Nick Jones, interactive director at the Central Office of Information (COI) has been appointed interim head of digital at the Cabinet Office and Number 10.

 Jones will continue his work at COI, which is due to close by next April, following a review of government communications published this June.

His appointment to oversee digital communications for the Prime Minister’s office and Cabinet Office is temporary, a spokesperson said, because the government is "considering the scope of the role in the context of the new Government Digital Service".
