A panel of permanent secretaries look back over a year of major change in the civil service at the opening plenary session of Civil Service Live 2011.
Chaired by cabinet secretary Sir Gus O’Donnell, the panel includes Simon Fraser of the Foreign Office, Sir Bob Kerslake of the communities department, Helen Ghosh of the Home Office and Ian Watmore, chief operating officer of the Efficiency and Reform Group in the Cabinet Office.
After setting out what they see as the key challenges and opportunities for the future, and highlighting some of the changes already underway, the perm secs take questions from the floor in a debate covering the full range of issues facing the Civil Service and public service delivery.
