Sponsored feature: We don't have A solution to cyber security

imageThat’s right, we’re a company with over twenty years of experience working on IT security in UK Government and Defence, CLAS accredited employees, and a host of security clearances but we don’t have one single solution or technique we can use to provide cyber security for everyone.

There is a reason we don’t have a single solution for everyone and that’s that we wouldn’t be doing our job of providing the most secure systems to Government and Defence if we advertised one box as the virtual magic wand to sort all issues.

Just a Buzz Word?

This has been the year of cyber security, launching a buzz word we have been familiar with and an issue we have worked on for years. So why can’t we wave a magic wand on all cyber security issues? Simply, cyber security means many things to many people, and that’s the key point. Every government agency, every finance house, every defence department all have different levels of risk and in turn there are different solutions and different methods of treating that risk.

For us to offer one solution would result in a waste of time and, critically in our current climate, money. Our approach is simple and effective. We use our experience and qualifications to look at each individual requirement, including budget, level of risk and our customers’ expectations. Only then, knowing all the facts can we commit to a solution that will work, meet those criteria and help our customer meet their cyber security needs and achieve the necessary levels of Information Assurance and compliance.

Is it just technology?

No. Often we find that our customers get caught up in the technology and lose focus on the actual issues.  Where we offer our customers a big advantage is in the education of staff and the assessment of risk. Teaching your employees about the issues, how to deal with them and, importantly, how to avoid them is a key strategy often overlooked.

 Why make it costly?

Combating cyber security doesn’t have to be costly, why should it be if you’ve invested in protection already? In fact, we’ve found lots of cases where a good assessment of existing infrastructure has enabled us to identify solutions using your equipment that will further help reduce your risk. The benefit of this approach not only saves you time on re-training but also money.

But of course sometimes you have to invest. In order to keep on top of managing the risk and budget constraints we offer our customers options that mitigate threats for a modest cost and just as well, if not better, than more expensive solutions.

An example of this is 4Secure becoming the UK distributor of Owl Data diodes. We know the technology is required but expensive, so we found an alternative.  Proven in the United States government, defence and CNI infrastructures, we have brought this offering to the UK as a reliable, technically advanced piece of equipment that rivals

How do I combat my Cyber Security issues?

A question depriving IT security managers across the UK of sleep. But it shouldn’t. Knowledge and the sharing of information to trusted sources are key to the issue.

In this column we have offered some ideas to help achieve the assurance you need but we also suggest you call us.  Our technical specialists speak English, not jargon and can help you in this fight.
