Queen thanks civil service by hosting ceremony at Buckingham Palace

The winners of the fifth annual Civil Service Awards were announced last night at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh congratulated the winners and the shortlisted civil servants at a reception after the awards ceremony.

During the ceremony, speeches were given by deputy prime minister Nick Clegg, cabinet secretary Sir Gus O’Donnell, home secretary Theresa May and Cabinet Office minister Francis Maude.
