UK Marine Climate Change Impacts Partnership (MCCIP): MCCIP Annual Report Card 2010/11 and launch
Centre for the Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (Cefas), Defra (Sustainable Marine Development and Climate Impacts Team) + Partners
The UK Marine Climate Change Impacts Partnership (MCCIP) – Annual Report Card (ARC) for 2010/11 provides the very latest information about how climate change is affecting our seas and oceans.
MCCIP plays a vital role in translating the sometimes complicated and conflicting scientific messages emerging on climate change into a format that is directly useable. The 2010/11 ARC is the most comprehensive assessment ever undertaken on this issue, and has involved contributions from 100+ scientists at 40 leading UK science institutes. The MCCIP partnership, established in March 2005, brings together government, scientists, NGOs and industry, and is supported (financially and politically) by each of the UK devolved administrations. It provides a co-ordinating framework that enables the efficient transfer of high-quality evidence, plus accessible guidance on
adaptation, to policy advisers, decisionmakers and industry. It has become the necessary tool for effective evidence-based policymaking.
This nomination recognises the Herculean efforts throughout 2009/2010 of the MCCIP steering committee, the MCCIP secretariat, the ARC working group and the expert review panel.
