Excellence in service delivery

An award for an individual or team who have displayed excellence in service delivery.

Criteria:

  • Shown evidence of analysis of impact on service users, especially on those from groups and communities protected under the Equality Act.
  • Displayed innovation and taken an inclusive and collaborative approach in achieving goals.
  • Delivered successful cost-effective solutions offering value for money.


Leading change in diversity & equality
An award for senior individual or collective leadership (e.g. a departmental Board) that has ensured equality thinking is done as a matter of course in policy making and service delivery.

Criteria:

  • Evidence that equality thinking is being done at an early stage of policy design.
  • Demonstrates that policy makers have the skills and knowledge to consider equality.
  • Achieved measurable improvement in workforce diversity, or equality outcomes in service delivery.


Understanding and engaging with communities
An award for an individual or a team who have improved outcomes for communities through understanding and engagement.

Criteria:

  • Displayed use of quantitative and qualitative evidence and analysis to reach understanding.
  • Proactively engaged and developed understanding of target audience producing demonstrable positive results.
  • Evidence of innovative, cost effective tailoring of policies or services arising from improved understanding and engagement.


Individual achievement
An award for an individual who has shown excellent results through inclusive leadership or activity.

Criteria:

  • Achieved excellent results through inclusive leadership or activity.
  • Demonstrated Pride, Pace, Passion and Professionalism in action.
  • Exemplifying the core values and behaviours set out in the Civil Service Code.


Innovation in employment practices
An award for an employee or team who has shown innovation in the development of employment practices and activities which develop and promote diversity and equality.

Criteria:

  • Demonstrates equality of opportunity in employment practices
  • Displays evidence of creating an inclusive culture or working environment through innovative employment practices
  • Evidence that underrepresented groups have progressed as a result of employment practices or initiatives


Champion of disability issues
An award for an employee who has made a real difference to improving the work experience and engagement levels of disabled members of staff.

Criteria:

  • Fosters an inclusive working experience for all staff, understanding and championing the needs of disabled staff
  • Evidence of making a real difference to the working experience of disabled staff by putting in place appropriate workplace adjustments.
  • Acts as a role model in demonstrating best practice leadership behaviours in effectively managing disabled staff.  

 

Civil Service Diversity & Equality award
The Diversity & Equality Awards are aligned with the Civil Service Awards. As such, winners of the individual categories from these Diversity & Equality Awards will form the shortlist for the Diversity & Equality category announced at the Civil Service Awards Ceremony.
