The deputy prime minister’s office is to appoint six new special advisers, or ‘spads’.
Two have already been appointed. Verity Harding, formerly a senior policy officer working in Lib Dem headquarters, has been appointed special adviser for both the Home Office and the Ministry of Justice.
John Foster, who was researcher for social care minister Paul Burstow, has been appointed special adviser for the departments of health and work and pensions.
Four more special advisers will be appointed by the end of the year, a spokesperson for the Deputy Prime Minister told CSW. The department has also appointed Neil Sherlock, who will be Nick Clegg’s director of government relations. He joins the Cabinet Office from KPMG.
