environmental sustainability, carbon emissions
The Department for International Development (DfID) and the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) are the top-performing ministerial departments in the first published league table measuring how well organisations comply with Carbon Reduction Commitments (CRCs).
Departments were ranked according to the measures they had put in place to track their emissions – for example, the installation of automatic energy meters. The Home Office ranked bottom, while the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs was fourth from bottom.
Daniel Grandage, associate director at consultants WSP Environment and Energy, told CSW that this may be because of the size of their estates. “If you have many sites, it’s difficult to install automatic meter readers.”
