What do leaders need to make a bigger difference in the civil service?Click here to join our online discussion in the Make a bigger difference group.
Women are well represented in the Civil Service as a whole, but there is a dramatic decline between the number of women represented in Grade 6/7 roles and those at the very top. Women still make up only 27% of Civil Service top management positions.
This conference, run by Westminster Explained and the FDA (the union for the UK's senior public servants and professionals) sought to address this issue, examining both the reasons behind it and the ways in which we can tackle it to ensure a more equal, diverse SCS for the future. It also aimed to give women aspiring to leadership, and those in leadership roles looking to progress, an insight into the challenges they will face, and how to overcome these on their journey to the top.
Thanks to all who attended for making this year's event such a success! As a result we will be making the conference an annual event, so please use this group to make suggestions for next year, invite colleagues to take part and spread the word about this fantastic event.
