Just had an interesting chat with Dr Nasser Siabi, managing director of the technology firm Microlink PC. His firm provides equipment that helps disabled people live an independent life, and he is passionate about championing action to help people with disabilities to realise their potential in the workplace. Within the diversity and equality agenda, he says, disability is the forgotten issue - a topic that remains unfashionable and far less frequently tackled than the big boys of racial and gender inequality. Surely that has largely been addressed in recent years, I suggested, with the creation of the Equality and Human Rights Commission to champion minority rights across the field and recent legislation to ensure that disabled people can access buildings and are treated equally in the workplace. But Dr Siabi was not convinced. This issue still has not received the prominence it deserves, he insisted - but its time will come.
