HRH Prince Charles was a surprise guest at a discussion on "Equality: From Policy to the frontline". Attendees were treated to a quick fire round of 'Who wants to be an Equality Millionaire".
Each question was answered by the "Ask the Audience" lifeline. It worked well to show many misconceptions about minorities and diversity in the public sector. Some of the highlights included:
- There is a 22.6% pay gap currently between men and women
- Only 5% of board level posts are occupied by women
- Britain has Europe's highest employment rate of women
Prince Charles stressed the need for the public sector to take a lead in volunteering. He spoke about the success of his work at the Prince's Trust, and of the positive benefits of volunteering in the community.
